BSO Music Director James Levine Returns to Tanglewood Podium July 28 to Lead Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, World-Renowned Cast of Singers and Tan

(PRWEB) July 27, 2007 -- BSO Music Director James Levine returns to the Tanglewood (www.tanglewood.org) podium this weekend to lead the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, an internationally renowned cast of soloists, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, John Oliver, conductor, in Verdi?s opera Don Carlo at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, in Tanglewood?s Koussevitzky Music Shed. Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Maestro Levine also leads the Boston Symphony Orchestra (www.bso.org) in such Tanglewood highlights as Beethoven?s Symphony No. 8 and Ravel?s Daphnis et Chloé (August 3), Bartók?s Concerto for Orchestra (August 10), Brahms? First Symphony (August 17), and Berlioz? La Damnation de Faust (August 18). For Tanglewood on Parade (August 15), he conducts the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Brahms? Hungarian Dance No. 1 in G minor and Sibelius? Valse triste. Additionally, he conducts Tanglewood Music Center Fellows in three performances of Mozart?s Così fan tutte (August 11, 12, 14). Maestro Levine will also lead the Boston Symphony Orchestra on a two-week, ten-concert European tour August 26 - September 7.
